# First-Time Account Setup

> Finish the required company and contact setup that appears after your first login so you can access every Mercury module.

The first time you log in to Mercury, a setup screen appears before you can reach the dashboard. This page explains what to enter, why it matters, and how to avoid the small mistakes that cause problems later.

<Info>
  This setup is **required**. You can't access dashboard modules until both steps are complete.
</Info>

## What happens after first login

* A setup screen appears automatically.
* You'll be guided through **two short steps**: company details and contact information.
* Once finished, you're redirected to the Mercury Accounts dashboard.

## Complete the setup

<Steps>
  <Step title="Add company details">
    Fill in your organization's identity. This information powers your branding across Mercury products — career pages, candidate emails, invoices, and more.

    | Field                   | Why it matters                                        |
    | ----------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------- |
    | **Company logo** | Appears on candidate-facing pages and outgoing emails |
    | **Company description** | Shown on your branded career page and shareable links |

    Click **Next** when done.

    <Tip>
      Upload a square logo at least 512×512 px for the sharpest results across small avatars and large headers.
    </Tip>
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add contact information">
    Enter the addresses Mercury will use to send and receive correspondence:

    * **Company email** — used as the sender for system and candidate emails.
    * **Company phone number** — used for account recovery and appears on candidate-facing communication.

    Click **Next** or **Finish** to complete setup.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## After setup

Once both steps are done:

<CardGroup cols={2}>
  <Card title="You land on the dashboard" icon="gauge">
    The main control panel for your organization.
  </Card>

  <Card title="Your account is ready" icon="circle-check">
    All modules — User Management, Billing, Integrations, and more — are now accessible.
  </Card>
</CardGroup>

## What to be careful about

<Warning>
  Small mistakes here have outsized effects later:

  * **Skipping or rushing details** weakens your branding on candidate-facing pages.
  * **Incorrect contact info** breaks emails sent to candidates and teammates.
  * **Wrong company email** can route important notifications into the void.
</Warning>

You can update any of this information later from **Organization Management** in the dashboard — but it's faster to get it right the first time.
